Real World: Ex-Plosion

So last Wednesday night was the premiere of Real World: Ex-Plosion, obviously the most anticipated TV moment of the new year. George and I happened to be in the same city so of course we DVRed it and then queued it up immediately.

Our initial thoughts were “meh” but it was shocking to see the new editing style, the breaking of the fourth wall, plus the way MTV is (d)evolving the show. We were both a little disappointed to see the lack of focus on the city of San Francisco but there were still plenty of background shots of Polk Street, which is right where George lives. However, despite residing a few blocks away from the Real World house, George never got a glimpse of the cast once. (Although today she reported that she walked by Arielle on the street!) The Subway that got prominent air time is the very one that is super close to George. Amazing right?

While it not seem groundbreaking to the casual viewer, longtime fans will recognize that this season is already quite different and I think it would behoove you to listen to Jacoby and Juliet recap the premier (RW talk starts at 27 min), plus they bring Frank Sweeney back to discuss Ex-Plosion. Woohoo, I’m gonna watch Real World for the first time in years because this is either the start of something new or the end of it all. Can you believe this is the 29th season of Real World?!
