Standings: Final Standings Rivals III

  • Jon +23 (90)
  • Susan +29 (81)
  • Yasmine +7 (80)
  • George +7 (74)
  • Victor +0 (57)
  • Kim +0 (31)

Finally, after almost seven years, and eleven seasons, of playing this game, one of the Yang twins has taken the title! I couldn't have done it without George, but let's just say I'll take Bananas' lead and choose to NOT share the prize money! Haha. Oh right, we stopped giving out prizes years ago, and now we're just playing for pride.

But man, how sweet it feels to finally win! And with old favorite Sarah leading the way, Jon's victory was not 100% assured heading into the final but also not nail bitingly close. Although, not having the duo of Nicole and Dario make the finals made for an intriguing finale. (Who knew Cheyenne and Devin's luck would hold all the way through to the final three. Better luck than skill right?)

With Sarah's demolishing cry post-backstab, Jon finally wins a long coveted MTV Challenge title! Does this mean he'll retire on top? Or will he go for a back-to-back win, to join the ranks of past champions? Or will this open the door for George to win one next season?

And in a bit of a surprise, defending champ Susan vaulted up to a second place finish -- one above Yasmine -- with a huge last two weeks, powered by Bananas' win and Cheyenne's crying, puking, and top three showing. As the only team with two contestants in the finals, Susan racked up a ginormous +29 over EP13/14 to make up a ton of ground and pass Yasmine.

As for our multi-champ, it looked like Yasmine had a chance for the title but Vince wasn't up to doing anything in the bonus department, and we don't give points for second place, so Yasmine faded to only a third place finish in Rivals III.

Well, there was no doubting Bananas and Sarah were going to win, but twist aside, it was actually very close. Vince and Jenna were only four minutes from winning and that could have easily been an upset! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+7): Bananas, Sarah

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Sarah
  • Puke (+2): Bananas, Sarah, Cheyenne, Devin
Scoring Notes: Did everyone puke? It seems like Vince and Jenna didn't so we didn't award them. We know Devin, Bananas, and Sarah did, and it looked like Cheyenne gagged at least.

The finals are here, and in a bit of an upset, it's Devin and Cheyenne who survives (yet again) without having to face an elimination. I guess second lives -- and being lucky -- are better than the first eh? Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): none
  • Elimination (+1): Dario, Nicole, Bananas, Sarah
  • Survival (+1): Bananas, Sarah
  • Out of Show (+0): Dario, Nicole
  • Finals (+5): Bananas, Sarah, Vince, Jenna, Cheyenne, Devin

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Cheyenne
  • Clue (+1): Sarah
Scoring Notes: Nothing exciting here, just a quick cry and a harmless clue point!

Standings: WK 7-12

  • Yasmine +28 (73)
  • George +32 (67)
  • Jon +34 (67)
  • Victor +22 (57)
  • Susan +25 (52)
  • Kim +2 (31)

Looks like we've got one or two more episodes left, and we're staring at a show down between.... Well, let's hold that thought. We'll start at the bottom of the standings with Kim, who got to supplemental draft Amanda and Nelson, but then promptly lost them both in WK7, effectively ending her game by mid-season. Sorry Kim, better luck next year!

And while defending champ still has Bananas and (the surprising) Cheyenne, it looks like she's too far back to really contend. And the same holds for Victor, who lost Wes to a rat race -- how come Wes can't crawl? -- and so lost his very last player for Rivals III.

That means it's the two twins chasing down Yasmine at the top! George holds the nominal lead by having the higher alphabetical name -- plus Camila the season's MVP so far -- but George is only down to RD1 pick Jenna, and that likely means she's going to lose out because Nate and Christina were eliminated together in WK11.

That leaves Jon to chase down Yasmine. There's a five point difference between the two, but Jon has Sarah, Nicole, and Dario still alive, while Yasmine is down to just Vince. So unless Nicole and Dario end up not making the finals next week, Jon could vault into the lead and be in pole position for his first championship.

Note: I now love Nicole, who really collapsed into total tears upon eliminating Nany. And while she did shank her cousin, it was still heartbreaking to see her cry like that. Also, why does everyone say how small and tiny Nicole is, she doesn't LOOK that little? Is she awful skinny or something?

And we're off to Argentina, after a vicious (okay not really) rat race between family. How soul crushing was Nicole's crying? My goodness, I was so glad her and Nany made up. Family is everything! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): Bananas, Sarah
  • Elimination (+1): Devin, Cheynne, Dario, Nicole, Wes, Nany
  • Survival (+1): Dario, Nicole
  • Out of Show (+0): Wes, Nany

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Nany, Nicole
Scoring Notes: Did Cheyenne puke? We didn't see it so we didn't give it. Same with Sarah and Bananas' fake under the covers kiss.

A double elimination episode, now we're cooking! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): Bananas, Sarah
  • Elimination (+1): Nate, Christina, Wes, Nany, Devin, Cheyenne
  • Survival (+1): Nate, Christina, Wes, Nany
  • Out of Show (+0): Cory, Ashley, Nate, Christina

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Ashley, Nany
  • Blurcle (+1): Vince

Scoring Notes: Vince gets a hand blurcle for when he flicks off Devin... To be honest, Devin is annoying as all hell. I'd flick him off too.

And another "to be continued!" Is this gonna be the longest Challenge season ever? For sure! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): Dario, Nicole
  • Elimination (+1): Cory, Ashley, Nate, Christina, Devin, Cheyenne
  • Survival (+1): none
  • Out of Show (+0): none

BONUS POINTS:
  • none

Scoring Notes: Literally no bonus points, unless we missed something? I love the challenges this season but the lack of hookups is disturbing. Hello, can Nate and Nicole get an on-screen kiss?!

If the new norm is to have a ton of episodes per season, I'm good with that! It would be nice to have some more bonus points though.... Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): Johnny, Sarah, Dario, Nicole
  • Elimination (+1): Wes, Nany, Kellyanne, Jamie, Cheyenne, Devin
  • Survival (+1): Wes, Nany
  • Out of Show (+0): Kellyanne, Jamie

BONUS POINTS:
  • none

Scoring Notes: I guess with no Camila or Tony all the action in the show is gone?

A "to-be-continued..." episode but at least we saw some people get booted due to (almost) physical altercation! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): none
  • Elimination (+1): none
  • Survival (+1): none
  • Out of Show (+0): none

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Camila
  • Tirade (+2): Camila
  • Booted (+3): Camila, Tony

Scoring Notes: What a way for Camila (and Tony) to go out! An astonishing display by the fiery Brazilian as she gets booted with flair. Will she be back? I'm not so sure after this emotional roller coaster...

Are we really halfway through the season already? It's hard to believe with so many people still around. But at least we're starting to get into elimination rhythm! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): Christina, Nate
  • Elimination (+1): Amanda, Nelson, Jamie, Kellyanne, Devin, Cheyenne
  • Survival (+1): Jamie, Kellyanne
  • Out of Show (+0): Nelson, Amanda

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Camila
  • Tirade (+2): Tony

Scoring Notes: When you smash a carton of eggs, you angry! So Tony gets a tirade bonus.

Standings: WK 1-6

  • Yasmine +24 (45)
  • George +18 (35)
  • Victor +17 (35)
  • Jon +20 (33)
  • Kim +10 (29)
  • Susan +13 (27)

Already six episodes in and we’ve only see, what, three Jungles? The show it playing fast and loose with the rules, and the only way we’ve really seen any whittling down of the cast is through quitters. We’ve already seen Brandon and Briana quit, along with EP6’s Tom and Simone, and then poor Leroy and Averey had to be sent home. Who are we left with exactly? Sigh. A whole bunch of AYTO people and Johnny versus Wes.

Well, it looks like our MTV Challenge dynasty title holder, Yasmine, is back at her old tricks again. She’s got a full squad still left to go and with Smashley leading the charge, she’s got a huge lead on the rest of the pack.

Shockingly, right behind her is George, who has a huge EP6 from Camila to vault into second place! While she’s already down Averey and almost lost Jenna — due to Vince’s physical altercation — George can temporarily bask in her high ranking.

Tied with her is Victor, who has quietly been using the combo of Jaime and Tony to get into a tie for second place. Victor is down Brianna but still has a strong trio of the two possible Eskimo brothers, plus Wes, who survived an elimination for the first time in years. By default, sure, but wasn’t it shocking to hear Wes admit that he hadn’t won an elimination in so long?!

Trailing right behind the top three is Jon, who’s had a boring season but still retains his entire team. If Sarah and Co. can make it far, there’s a good chance for Jon to ascend the rankings.

Out of championship contention is Kim, who has lost her entire team by EP6. I’m not sure if that’s our record, but it’s close! Leroy was gone due to injury, Tom and Brandon both quit, and Jessica was eliminated in EP5. So what now? Luckily Kim will get the chance to fill up her roster a bit from our supplemental draft, as she’ll get two picks to replace Leroy and Brandon.

Trailing at the end is Susan, our returning champion. The only team without a double digit scorer, Susan is facing an uphill battle to defend her title. She still has Bananas and KellyAnne, plus the surprise return of Cheyenne, but she’s quite a distance away from the top.

  • Survival (+1): none

  • Kissing (+2): Ashley, Jamie

Scoring Notes: Maybe Jamie and Ashley had sex, maybe they didn't, we don't know! But we definitely see her trying to kiss him (his face is turned) so we'll give her some kissing, and begrudgngly, him. What a boring episode! But welcome Nelson and Amanda!

Alright, week one down and no eliminations! What gives! Here are our Rivals III rules, rosters, and the league's scoring sheet.

COMPETITION POINTS:
  • Challenge (+1): Tony, Jenna
  • Elimination (+1): none
  • Survival (+1): none

BONUS POINTS:
  • Crying (+2): Camila, Nany
  • Sex (+2): Jamie / Ashley
  • Clue (+1): Sarah

Scoring Notes: A couples of close calls on crying but with no tears or anything close to tears, we say "no!" [Edit: We gave Nany the cry points, she is seen wiping away a tear before entering the airplane!] Also Cheyenne's outburst was ruled to be more of a verbal fight (if even) and not a crazy tantrum or tirade.

Rivals III: Rosters and Draft

Stop me if I'm repeating myself but I'll quote from last season: "George gets yet another #1 overall pick (last year she got #1 and took Bananas)..." Is that three in a row for her? I'm glad George is good at winning something in this league! And it looks like she could be winning already after EP1, so this could be her year! #nojinx

Also, Kim is trying out the random method -- altho we question how she "randomly" got her favorite, Leroy -- and maybe that'll take her to a first title? Either way, Rivals III already looks pretty exciting!

George: Jenna, Camila, Averey, Nate
Susan: KellyAnne, Bananas, Johnny R, Cheyenne
Victor: Wes, Jaime, Tony, Brianna
Jon: Sarah, Cory, Nicole, Dario
Kim: Leroy, Jessica, Thomas, Brandon
Yasmine: Nany, Vince, Ashley, Simone

Undrafted: Devin, Christina

Rivals III: Rules

We've done the Rivals dance twice before so the rules should be similar. But who knows what kind of twists MTV will throw at us this time. For now, here are the rules...

DRAFT
  • Six team owners will each select four players each, in a snake style draft. (Four players will be "leftovers."
  • Leftovers are left undrafted for the entire season, and unscored.

SCORING and POINTS
Weekly challenges, bonus points, almost all the same stuff as last year, excepting any rule changes we can't anticipate. Took out "Exile" scoring as there should be no Exile this season. Also re-added "hookup bonus."
Competition Points (awarded per episode)

  • Weekly (+1): Awarded for each week a player stays on the show
  • Challenge (+1): Awarded for winning weekly challenge (If team game, each individual on the winning team receives a point)
  • Elimination (+1): Awarded for being tossed into an elimination challenge
  • Survival (+1): Awarded for winning the elimination challenge
Bonus Points (awarded per episode and per instance)

  • Kissing (+2): Romantic, carnal, or via dare, not for congratulatory or "hello" pecks
  • Sex (+2): Must be shown on-camera, or acknowledged by both parties (with no doubt)
  • Hookup Bonus (+1): Extra point for owning both contestants who either kissed or had sex together. (Only awarded once per couple per episode)
  • Fight (+2): Must be a physical fight, including some intent to do harm
  • Tirade (+2): Key phrase is a "crazy ass tirade," including throwing or breaking things
  • Medical (+2): Awarded for going to the hospital, or if player needs treatment from a medical professional
  • Puke (+2): Awarded for throwing up from drinking, exhaustion, food poisoning, etc. (Has to be shown on camera, not just gagging sounds)
  • Crying (+2): Must be a very clear case of crying, not just red face, puffy eyes, watery eyes, but actual real tears
  • Booted (+3): Getting booted off the show by producers, be it physical altercation, safety reasons, injuries, etc. Does not apply if the person chooses to leave the show voluntarily aka quits
  • Blurcle (+1): Having a body part blurcled (Only awarded once per episode, and for nudity versus logo blocking out, or flicking someone off, etc.)
  • Clue (+1): Awarded for reading the clue from TJ Lavin

Finals Points (awarded once at end of season)

  • Finals (+5): Awarded to everyone who makes the finals
  • Winner: (+7): Awarded to the overall winners (or to all members of the winning team)

Any subjective calls will be cleared up by voting. See old version of rules for examples of past subjective rulings.

ARBITRATION DETAILS
Majority wins the vote-offs (which must be done before the next episode). If there are five owners voting, that should be easy. However, if two separate owners have to abstain because it's their contestants involved, then it's four voters. Ideally a 3-1 majority would take it but if there is a tie, then no points are rewarded. Try to be objective if you can, when voting. And we can cite previous precedent or whatever in our arguments. No bribing though!

New Season: Rivals III

Another Challenge season, so soon after Bloodlines? Okay, we'll take this 28th season! Rivals III has a lot of people we aren't familiar with but we do need some new faces I guess. Let's get ready to draft and see if Susan can defend her title!
