The million dollar question, did KellyAnne and Dunbar hook up over the Real World Sydney? I never watched that series, but I did have some things to add, following one of the most intense episodes of the Ruins. Here are my thoughts.
First I would like to analyze the Aftershow between KA and Dunbar, in terms of the overall feel from their statements, body language, and general motivation. Since they are both sticking to their guns, one must be lying. But pray tell, who??
Watching the Aftershow, I had some mixed feelings. From Dunbar, I did not sense tension and he appeared relatively bemused and slightly incredulous of the affair. He had a "why make a mountain out of a molehill" attitude. The way KellyAnne is arguing, there more of a mix of “false emotion,” anger and irritation. Dunbar doesn’t need KellyAnne to admit anything, yet KellyAnne needs Dunbar to admit something. In the middle of the her explanation, KellyAnne compromises by stating, “It makes sense why I would lie” which comes off as very non sequitur. It indicates she had heavily rehearsed how she wanted to respond to counter an argument in the interview. Except no one brought it up, and yet she offered her rebuttal anyways. This is a tell-tale sign on lying, revealing pre-rehearsed rebuttals to non-existent arguments. Also, study the body language for KellyAnne as she sits in her seat. It’s a weird, Indian style posture, with her arms and elbows exposed. I can’t completely put a finger on it, but it seems very out of place. She’s not really angry or defensive, which usually would be a closed up position, legs-crossed, arms folded across the chest, angry countenance. Like a Susie when she’s not happy. In fact, it seems almost like a childish position, as a young child might sit. This strikes me as a KellyAnne is in “grade school playing a game” posture.
Next, let’s review motivation. Motives can often reveal a compelling back story on events. Is there an incentive for either to lie, or even embellish the truth? Why would Dunbar lie? Well simply put, it would be egg on his face if he suddenly recanted and said, “Well, I just made up having sex with KA.” Straight-forward as that. It would make him look like less of a man, and make others question if he’s ever lied about sleeping with any other girls that he likes to list. On the Island aftershow, he listed 5 reality TV girls that he’s hooked-up with, and #1 there was KellyAnne. Dunbar is the type that considers the measure of a man, the number of women that he has bedded, clearly. So that’s his motive, his manhood. Why would KellyAnne lie? Well, she’s concerned about her sudden status as the “girl that everyone has been with,” aka “neighborhood slut and whore” and in a weird drunken state on her birthday, decided to force the issue. She is also backed into a corner. She can’t say she lied from this point onwards, as she’s got too much at stake. However, as side angle, KellyAnne strikes me as a histrionic personality type, needing both high amounts of attention and stimulus in the form of drama. After watching this show, as much as I am a Wes-fan, I don’t really see much compatibility between the personality types. Just like there are marriages of convenience, their relationship was made for reality TV and its drama. KellyAnne dated Wes, b/c she wanted to be on the show in that situation with all the ex’s. When she was first on the Island, Johanna was one of the “it girls” with Kenny, so KellyAnne simply wanted the status of dating her ex. It strikes me, that KellyAnne would also lie, just for the conflict and tension and drama that it would engender.
Next, let’s review relative power and attractive quotient. Who’s hotter? It is always easier for the objectively(or subjectively) hotter person to sleep with the other person. I think in real life, attraction is 80% of the equation, but in this reality tv sub-universe, it is probably 95% of the equation. So who is it? Dunbar vs KellyAnne. KellyAnne is hotness, but she’s got a strange vibe on her. She definitely isn’t very lady like. She’s very feisty, which might be a turn off to some guys. Dunbar is good looking, but he also seems to be slightly toolish, and none too clever. Is intelligence really a must have for women? Perhaps in a long-term mate, but I think for a reality TV companion, intelligence is probably tantamount to a throw-in attribute, like car doormats. Dumb might even be better, since they could be more easily controlled. Also I would add, when you don’t trust someone, you’d probably prefer dumb, such that one can see through their lies. So I’d give the edge to Dunbar here. He’s also got that wholesome vibe to him, and KellyAnne has that bad girl vibe. From first impressions, Dunbar has a “take home to the parents” feel to him, while KellyAnne has a “when it is over you and your pocketbook will be hurting” feel to her.
So in conclusion, I’m going to go with KellyAnne is lying, driven primarily that she’s the only one clever enough to create a backstory to enforce a lie. She admitted that she slept with Adam(of all ppl!), so why wouldn’t she sleep with Dunbar? Perhaps they didn’t go all the way, whatever that is, but I feel like Dunbar is sincere in that they did enough for people to call it sex. It must have been for Dunbar, like the way he goes to the mall. Get in, get out, done, count the trophy. KellyAnne might believe that you have to get to fifth base before it becomes official, but I think she’s just trying to see how much she can get away with.

What if Dunbar was just a convincing liar? Could be smarter than we all think he is? Eh... probably a rhetorical question.
Maybe. Maybe the whole the Dumb Bear act is all just part of his master plan. You know, like Virgil from the Usual Suspects.
"The great trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist"
wait wait, which adam?!
what's this about adam?
i bet this whole thing is more of a sex vs. sexual relations debate.
personally, i'm over it. they're trying to create drama out of nothing. someone have actual sex on the show instead of talking about possible sex from a previous season. lame.
The Ruins Adam, the mixed black/white one.
In the first episode, when Darrell tries to pick a fight with Wes by calling out KellyAnne as having slept with everyone. KellyAnne fesses up to having sex with 3 ppl, Wes, Cohutta and Adam. Although says Adam was a mistake.
Wow. That's a shocker. Adam must have some smooth moves...
