WK7 was a controversial episode for bonus points. And without Jon and George as they cruise through Europe, we are left without their voice and their votes.
I would liken their absence this week to when the Soviet Union was absent from the UN Security Council vote on whether to support the Republic of Korea(South) when the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(North) invaded south of the 38th parallel. The vote favored supported the ROK as an Allied UN force sent help to the South in what is known as the Korean War. Incidentally, the USSR was boycotting the inclusion of the Republic of China(Taiwan) on the UN Security Council, as opposed to the People's Republic of China(Big One). Little did Stalin know that his absence would hurt his cause, and the Security Council would simply vote against him while he was gone. Epic Fail. And they say, the rest is history.
While we don't have that grave of an issue, we do have the contrversy. So I'm bringing back the TPM for Hook Up Scoring. It was designed to reduce controversy, and add some stability and consistency to our scoring.
Essentially, this week, we had several players kiss each other in a seemingly innocent way. A key component of our Hook Up Scoring, as per the TPM is kissing. A mouth to mouth kiss rewards 20pts to the scoring total, and we set the bar low at 40pts. Basically, if two players kiss that pretty much leads to a hook up ruling unless everyone objects. That's how we've been scoring.
However, in deference to HT's purist stance, we will back off of including the Wes-Theresa kiss as a hook-up. They were some factors that at least convinced me personally that there was some merit. On screen, the episode and context implied that Wes and Theresa were actually hooking-up, e.g. Jillian's comments. Wes and Theresa were definitely spending time together although they may not have been a new kiss. However, having a replay of old content does seem to "doubly" reward something, and I suppose we should avoid that. It is too bad, as those team hook up points would have catapulted Yaz back into real contention. I think now w/o the freckled red head, her chance for fantasy stardom are now growing longer by the week.
