The '10 Ho Draft

Listening to: The Challenge draft segment made me think of this classic Warren G interlude.

I loved the setup of having the worst players pick. If you watched Freaks and Geeks, there's one episode where the geeks get to pick their teams for the baseball game. They have such a blast just grabbing their friends and dissing the popular jocks. Of course, that is not how this "geek" draft panned out. For some reason Camila, Emilee, and Shauvon decided that their temporary positions of power made them actually important in the game. I would have struck a deal with some of the people I wanted to draft, making them promise to not toss me in first. I mean, didn't they realize that while they were standing up there picking their teammates they were also assembling the people that would be heaving them overboard?

Since I have the time, I took a look at their draft. As we all know, Camila picked Dunbar first. Which seems really weird since he wasn't one of the top finishers -- Vinny, Tyler, Abe were. Clearly Camila has never seen these people before, which is kind of a huge disadvantage. Keep in mind, she's from the Spring Break Challenge and has literally no friends/castmates on Cutthroat. That's why Theresa picking on her seems extra mean. Luckily, Camila's klepto ways also means that she's a bit feisty and capable of holding her own. Her best move the entire episode was probably picking Tori and Brad, who are nice people and moved to protect her after Theresa tore her down. (Who knew Theresa had this in her! I love it!)

What's interesting about this draft process is that people were basically selected by physical stature. All the short guys were passed over despite their past accomplishments. I mean, really, has Vinny, Dunbar, and Johnny won much? No. And Chet over Luke? Ridiculous. That even applied to Brandon and Ty, where Ty went a full four rounds earlier, probably based on his greater physical stature. Or maybe Brandon's drinking last season, whatevers. Either way, I'd have been pissed off to be Derrick, who was really disrespected and was the last veteran guy picked. Derrick is a winner, don't you know that Camila/Emilee/Shauvon? Oh of course not, because they are the worst players.

Actually the biggest insult was probably to Katie, who was picked dead last of the girls. In her little clip, it's revealed that Katie is going to school to be a behavioral profiler, partly motivated by how well she can predict the "moves" from people on these Challenges. She said she wants to use her powers of perception on criminals and get paid for it -- which makes sense since she never wins on these shows. It's good that she has a life goal now.

I wish I could line up all my so called friends and then select them in this manner. It would make my life so much more exciting. Everything social should be conducted in teams I say!
