WotW2: Post-Draft Analysis

For the first time, we can look at how the draft turned out after the season! Was taking Laurel number one the right move? Who was the best value? Well, since this was such a veteran dominated season, the distribution of who was picked where was pretty accurate. Four of the top five scorers overall were drafted in the first two rounds, with only Tori begin taken at the top of the third.

Of course, as usual, the biggest flop was with the number one pick, where Kim selected Laurel but she only returned nineteen total points and ranked 19 out of the 32 contestants. Contrast this with Josh — also selected by Kim — who was selected absolutely last in our draft but returned fourteenth pick value! The biggest value was actually Leroy, who was selected 28th but came in with the eighth highest points. Leroy, Josh, Tori, Rogan, and Dee were the standout best values from the draft.

The biggest flops were Laurel, Kyle, Wes, CT, and Joss. CT was selected with the second pick overall by Ameer, and while he ended up winning the season, his low points only gave him the sixteenth best scores, which made his value quite low. Still, Ameer got so much draft value out of Dee and Tori — and had no problems have Tula getting eliminated quickly — that he ended up with a stellar draft.

Roger had the best plus/minus from his draft versus actual scoring, as Leroy and Zach were both drafted in the twenties but ended up in the top ten scoring, with Ashley bettering that by being drafted twelfth but finishing fifth! Only Kam was a disappointment for Roger, but even then it wasn’t by that much.

Unfortunately, Susan’s team was not so lucky. As she had both Kyle and Wes return terrible value. Plus, Faith was tossed so early, leaving Susan with only Nany returning points above what was expected. Better draft next year Susan!

Jon and Yasmine had very similar drafts, with almost all of their players being very close to their expected values. Cara Maria, Idris, and Jenny were pretty much exactly as drafted for Jon, and only Kayleigh ended up being slightly better than her 29th drafted slot. Yasmine was pretty much the same, with Turbo as her only slight disappointment, and Bear, Zahida, and Jordan performing as expected.

Victor had a huge hit with Rogan, but whiffed had on Joss (he’s so boring!), and came out about even for Ninja and Nicole (does anyone even remember her?). And George was actually spot on with Paulie, Georgia, and Esther — they each finished just one slot away from where they were drafted — and only came up way short with Sean.

And then there’s Bananas, who was drafted 17th and couldn’t even return that value, finished 25 out of 32 contestants. Is it even worth drafting the show’s face anymore? It would seem like not really…. Kim’s team had Laurel and Bananas and their power play failed, leaving Theo and Josh to carry her scoring.
