Bravo MTV, bravo!

This has been a pretty tremendous season so far, and while I'm in absolute last place, I've been enjoying the many surprises. It seems like each week the drama intensifies and the script also changes. Plus MTV is doing a stellar job of serving us up fun story lines.

WK1 was CT and Diem, WK2 was the Anastasia breakout party, followed by Marlon's bi-everything in WK3. This past week had its moments of hilarity too, with Jemmye's ketchup freakout, Knight cockblocking everything, and the continued focus on Diem's hair and her self-confidence issues. Oh wait, that last one is the worst. Who else is super tired of hearing Diem go on and on about her hair? Geezes.

While I'm not trying to minimize the amount of strength Diem showed in fighting cancer back twice, this storyline is super old. Just shut up about the hair already. Haven't you learned anything in ten years? Just either hook up with CT or don't, and just keep dancing. All this focus on Diem is taking time away from the people we really care about. For example, Emily and Paula are killing EVERY challenge, yet we never see Emily doing anything in the house. She's fun, where is Emily? And it's criminal that Theresa and Jonna, two of the hottest people in the house, get no love except for a few brief glimpses. Also, where is Camila? Why is there no follow up on her and Johnny? Or heck, on Zach and Jonna, who were so hot and heavy last season?

I'm ready for the focus to shift away from Knight's antics. In fact, I'd love to just boot Knight now. I'm shocked he and Preston are still around, but I'm betting they get tossed next week.

Also, now that Cara Maria and Cooke are back, I think they need to politic and grab Jasmine/Jonna, and then another team to give them the voting numbers. They can be a power team, but they just don't know how to play the game. They'll never break up Diem/Aneesa and Paula/Emily by trying to convince the old guys to vote against them, but if they can convince Jemmye and Camila to ally up, they'd be able to strong arm some guy votes. Otherwise CM and Cooke are headed to the elimination every week, and we'd lose them both.

As for the guys, there's almost no reason Johnny and Frank won't make the finals. They are stirring up no trouble and seem to be flying under the radar while working pretty well together. And also, count me super impressed by Jordan. He's the season MVP just because I'm astounded by how good he is at everything. I even watched a few Portland episodes, and still underestimated him! Sorry Jordan, you're gonna go far and hook up with everyone too. Although that Gatsby reference was idiotic...

Notes:

  • Johnny Bobblehead is the best. Should the winner this season get one?
  • The cast is really giving a full effort to greeting TJ this season. But the one I enjoyed best was WK3, when Leroy stood up and gave TJ a standing ovation, all by himself.
  • Why does Emily wear her helmet backwards? Is this something elite athletes do? I was shopping for bike helmets this weekend, and looking at this exact brand actually. The Triple Eight helmets all sat high and wide on my nogging, but somehow Emily can wear it backwards and have it look awesome/hilarious.
  • I was trying to figure out who got blurcled in the background when Nany and Diem were yelling at each other. The answer is: Cooke. All that detective work to see who was wearing those shorts, and it turns out Cooke was getting blurcled later on anyway. Sigh.
  • I love when Jemmye called Diem out by saying "She's playing the white girl card." I've never heard that before. Also, Jemmye is white too!
  • Diem's trash talking of Cooke (and Cara Maria) shows her true serpenty nature. "If they can't manipulate with looks…"
  • So far, all the challenges have been quite good. Either amusing, interesting, or both. Plus they've all really required team work. MTV is really stepping up their game here. And I like how they punish teams for not trying. No more disqualifications!
  • All the podcasts keep talking about how Wes is much smaller and less aggressive because he's off steroids. Have you noticed how small he's gotten?
  • Why do they keep calling Trey a Smurf? He doesn't seem that small or scrawny. Plus Zach, not a mental giant, always says Trey is bad at everything. What is going on here? Is Trey bad and we don't know it?
  • It's criminal that we haven't seen a season with Emily, Laurel, and Eve. Heck, bring on Ruthie. I need an all star cast of girls.
  • Of course Cara Maria knows about electroshock, but why does Theresa? During the elimination setup, she was all giving Jasmine a big pep talk and explaining how it would feel. Does Theresa also use car batteries and clips for some reason?

So many excellent points. First, I, too, am so tired about hearing about Diem's hair. The editing is making her seem so annoying. The Johnny Bobblehead is pretty amazing. Doesn't quite look like him, but still amazing. I don't understand why everyone hates Trey. He seems no less likable than any of the other folks. And yes, bring back Ruthie!
