Team Testosterone

Somehow I found myself with the first overall pick again and while I loved it last season to be able to get my all time favorite, Jenn, this time around I wasn't as enthused because by the time it gets back to being my turn again, all the good people are gone.

For my first pick, it was pretty much a no-brainer since as I already mentioned, Jenn wasn't around. If she was, I would of had a much tougher time figuring out who to pick (actually who am I kidding, I would of had to go with Jenn no matter what) but since she wasn't, CT was an easy choice. I pretty much expect him to make it to the finals and get me some points just for longevity. I had also loved him and Diem when they were together and everytime I see them interact, I just want everything to be ok again and a little part of me wishes they would get back together and maybe I'll get a hookup point or two. It's a long stretch I know but a girl can wish can't she?

For my second pick, my choices were pretty limited but I finally settled on Mark, the oldest veteran in the house. He is a good competitor and I'm pretty impressed at how fit he is and seems to come back year after year stronger than ever with no signs of slowing down. Given that he is such a strong vet and is loved by everyone, I figure he won't be seeing the inside of the Dome anytime soon.

My next two picks went to Dunbar and Vinny. Just to give you an idea Dunbar is known as Dummy Bear and as Jon has already blogged about, Vinny.....well I don't know what happened to Vinny. I mean look at the man. He's ballooned up and the image of him in his Speedos is just too much to take. He made no effort to try to get in shape before the Challenge and maybe it wouldn't be such a shock if he wasn't pretty buff before but my oh my is this a fall from grace. The fact that he didn't even care about his physique makes me think he's not too serious about the game but I'm kind of hoping that maybe Sarah will carry the team? I know I know I'm really stretching here.

This is the first time that I've had an all male team and it's quite interesting because Jon has an all girl team. Hm.....and we're both chasing our first championship in these games. With the exception of Vinny, my team is stacked and hence why I've dubbed them Team Testosterone. I do have a weakness for men who have big biceps so if anything at least I've got some eye candy to look forward to each week.

I'm quite excited about this challenge and while I am in it to win it (yes American Idol is another show that is on my DVR these days), I'm more intrigued by the CT/Diem and Cara Maria/Abram storyline. Just today CM tweeted that she was going to burn all of the items that Abram had ever given her so I'm just curious to see the dynamics between their relationship. I'll be blogging more about that later I'm sure but for now, show me the money and I so want to be the one to prevent Yasmine from getting a three-peat.

Tubthumping

Whew, what a boring first episode. No hook ups, no screaming, and outside of another piece of glass broken by Jasmine, not much drama. While there are a whole lot of things that we could focus on -- Wes the suicidal big mouth for example -- there's only one thing I need to talk about: What happened to Vinny?!

When a tub of lard showed up for the honey challenge I couldn't even figure out who it was. Did Eric return and we somehow missed it? What was going on? While Vinny has never been svelte, he was definitely pretty stacked and wouldn't you think that he'd make an effort to be in shape for his third Challenge? Oh no, Vinny came without the gym, tan, laundry (likely), or steroids and should now be redubbed "Big V" in honor of Big Easy.

Clearly Vinny was heavily influenced by Tyler's "I'll eat everything in sight" strategy and took it to a whole new level. I don't want to hate on someone for loving their food but this is ridiculous. Take a gander at those before and after photos. You can see Vinny's cankles! Looking over the cast photos in retrospect, we should have been tipped off by the fact that Vinny was the only guy to take photos with his shirt on.

Can you imagine the first time Vinny undressed for the challenge? Sarah must have fainted -- and not in a good way. Ironically, this could increase their chances to remain on the show as other teams keep Vinny around as dead weight for the final. George, your selection of Vinny is looking genius!

"I'm really really hoping that Vinny's rolls, or body fat content, will get his ass slipped off into the ocean. And hopefully Nate and I still can have a chance at beating this." (Priscilla)

"Put some [honey] in your belly button bro!" (Mark)

"And in just the past couple years we have witnessed Vinny evolve from a brash, bravado-filled Boston boy into Chaz Bono."

Draft Recap: For Another League

So this year, I was asked by Challenge Forums to run another league just like ours -- except they added "You killed it" when TJ says it to somebody as a bonus. It was interesting to see what other people would do with our rules. Read below for how their draft unfurled!

The show hasn't even started and we've got our first controversy and an owner booted! If that doesn't mean we're headed for a great season then we don't love our MTV. As first time participants of fantasy MTV Challenge, I was really curious how six complete strangers would assess the point scoring prowess of our favorite reality television personalities.

Would competitiveness and challenge ability win out over drama and tantrums? We'd love to hear more from each owner about why they picked each player and what kinds of secret strategies they harbored as they drafted. For now, we'll just take a look at how the draft for Challenge Forum's Battle of the Exes unfurled. Plus, here are the team rosters.

Round 1
While there was some talk about Rivals' rookie of the year Jasmine being the top pick, the clear choice for number one overall is Chris Tamburello. CT would have won last year's Challenge in a walk if his partner wasn't so stupid, and he's back for the first time as a fan favorite. Everyone's cheering for CT to finally win one of these and this will probably be his best chance. CT! CT!

From the look of the previews and last year's outstanding showing, Jasmine is a five tool player. She hooks up, she unleashes verbal barrages, she cries, she is likely to be blurcled, and she's feisty enough to intimidate in some of the eliminations. The only question is how long will Jasmine stick around? It might not matter, as Jasmine is capable of putting up MVP numbers even in limited time.

Now we get to the controversy. On no planet except a cheating planet would Ty be picked ahead of many of the contestants selected later in this round. In his two recent Challenge appearances, Ty has been pathetic both times and while he's got a lot of crazy potential, he's pretty useless at competitions. What did ousted owner Kylexy know that we don't? (How to cheat apparently.) Either way, Kylexy has been booted and we all know that spoilers aren't usually accurate anyway. We applaud Expert for dumping Kylexy, as swift justice tells everyone that this league is all about fair play. Thanks for joining us Alaina! For your sake let's hope Ty doesn't suck as poorly as he usually has.

At the #4 slot, Kenhoffy took Robin, a very interesting pick as we all know Robin is around for her veteran social muscle and tears, not her work in direct competition. Last season we saw the old vets get tossed overboard pretty soon -- because there were too many (relative) newbies who had overtaken the throne -- so I'm curious how long Robin and Mark will last. Either way, we might as well give Robin a few crying points now, as she's good for at least two instances before she gets booted off. This is Robin's ninth Challenge and didn't she say something last season about wanting to spend more time with her new kid? Bravo mother of the year!

Merideth has been paying attention. We've been predicting Camila's breakout season for quite some time now and we think Battle of the Exes is it. While we're unsure of the nature of her and Johnny's hookup from Rivals, we are sure that Camila is a tough competitor who has plenty of attitude to spare. She's headed for some major bonus and competition points, and we think she'll finally have the social muscle to avoid getting tossed into all the eliminations. This Brazilian crazy is our dark horse female MVP.

Paula finally won a Challenge last season after nine tries and while we'd love to say that she's got repeat potential, our analysts are pretty sure that the drop off from having Evelyn as a partner to Dunbar is pretty steep. We'd be shocked if Paula makes it past mid-season. Queue up some crying points for her too though.

Round 2
With the wraparound pick, Challenge_fans invested in another vet, the Methuselah of the Challenge, Mark Long. Seriously man, how can you keep coming back? The good thing is that 50-year old Mark is still in great shape. The downside is that he'll take a father figure stance with all these kids who are probably literally half his age, and we can't see him getting many bonus points. But Mark is a fun guy so we can see him sticking around for awhile as he pulls into a super vet alliance.

Our last image of Wes was him crying like a little baby as his legs cramped up -- and got bloody from the rocks in his socks. Our second to last image of Wes was him carrying Kenny up a mountain. Which is the real Wes? Recently, Wes hasn't done well points wise in this Challenge, as he rubs too many people the wrong way in order to survive to the end. However, Wes is clearly first round talent that slipped and let's not underestimate the fact that this is his second partnership with Mandi. An experienced team up could pay dividends.

If this was a solo Challenge, we'd take Abram top three, easy. The question is how good will Cara Maria be? Well, Kenhoffy and Alaina are dying to know, as they took the ex-lovers in successive picks. Newsflash: Cara Maria is one of the top Challenge competitors. Overlooking Fresh Meat 2, she's made the finals every season since and is much more physically capable than she looks. With Abram around to support/antagonize her, we don't see many other teams wanting to mess with this strange duo. We'd be shocked if Abram and Cara Maria don't make the finals, dressed up in blood splattered Tanooki suits or something.

Matt gets a steal at the bottom of the second round with Johnny Bananas. Since we are so high on Camila, it makes sense that we are just as equally high on Johnny. We can't see any situation where Johnny doesn't have another long Challenge run -- except if CT decides to kill him -- and even without his douchebag trio around to help him socially, Johnny will have a pretty good shot at repeating this season. We're curious if Wes and Johnny will decide to team up versus big bad CT.

Speaking of CT, Nate decides to go all in with Diem as his second pick after scooping up her ex in the first round. We know Diem will be good for one drunken night, a few hysterical tears, and probably one hookup that will send CT bonkers. (Or is CT over that?) Diem isn't the most mentally strong contestant but she can sort of hold her own physically. Her role in this Challenge is to just play Ann Darrow to CT's King Kong and Nate is hoping that's enough to take him to the top.

Round 3
I literally know nothing about Naomi. Was she more than friends with benefits with Leroy? Were they no strings attached? Did one incept the other? What? And is it just me or do they sort of look alike? Maybe Naomi has some secret physical/dramatic powers I don't know about. Someone fill me in. Bold pick Nate, bold pick.

Another candidate for breakout player is Emily from DC. She's athletic, she's well liked, she's no longer a rookie. While it's insane that she ever liked Ty romantically, there's a decent chance they could work well together right? If the rumors are true that Ty goes far, that means Emily does too. We're hoping she sticks around as we think she's got great Challenge potential.

Even saddled by the light hearted clown that was Mike, Leroy went far last season. We think he's got the potential to do it again but we're unsure how the veterans will receive him this season. Leroy is super likeable but without knowing how quickly the vets will accept or cast him out, it's hard to predict what'll happen. He's clearly the best guy left at this point in the draft though. Solid choice.

Mandi is looking to build on her huge breakout season on Rivals -- 34 points, coming in second only to Paula's 35 points -- and cement her status as a perpetual Challenge contender. Feel great about this selection Kenhoffy, we have Mandi as a virtual lock to make it to the finals. She's got some social clout this time with Wes around and they'll hook up for sure. We'd love it if Mandi asked CT to put the choke moves on her again, but we can't see that happening. Although a tag team match between Wes/Mandi and CT/Diem would be our ultimate pay per view this season.

The man so good that he was selected twice! Tyrie is well, not actually good. While he may be twice the size of some of the other competitors, he's definitely not even half the athlete. After seeing him get pushed around by Wes and Kenny during the Blast Off elimination last season, we question if Tyrie was actually even a college football player. His job on the show will be to prevent Jasmine from ruining too many inanimate objects.

Aneesa is the definition of all blow and no show. She's been on these challenges like eight times and been pretty terrible each time as I recall. She's not only going to tank her own chances, she's gonna take Rachel down with her as a double whammy.

Round 4
There was a time when Sarah looked like a rising star in these Challenges. Remember when she came on and was all feisty and competitive and in love/hate with Kenny? That was four Challenges ago -- she's the only contestant who hasn't missed one since Ruins 2. Now she's got a track record of failure and tends to wimp out at the worst times. She's the Vince Carter of this game. Unless the entire Challenge involves swimming, Sarah and her Jersey Shore knockoff partner, Vinny, are headed for an early exit. Also, we're not sure we like the blonde hair. Actually we are sure: we hate it.

We're a little surprised Rachel wasn't drafted higher, seeing as she's tough and will have some social pull. However, her partner is Aneesa so that's probably why she sunk to such a low spot. At least Rachel's not Dunbar! Dummy Bear is a veteran guy who is always selected low because he's just boring. Traditionally, Dunbar melts into the background and just does whatever his partners tell him to do. "Lame Human" should be his new nickname.

I don't watch Real World anymore so is Dustin just an accent-less, taller, not cool version of Cohutta? Yeah it sucks that his Real World roomates shunned him for his gay porn past but that sympathy will hardly keep him around with the Challenge crowd. If RW: Vegas was smart, they'd try to form up a mini-alliance and sell their votes to the highest bidder. Why doesn't this ever happen?

Matt tried to take Tyrie again but will end up with Vinny instead. According to our advanced metrics, Vinny rated out as the worst Challenge player of the last four seasons. (Yes, even worse than Katelynn.) We'll see if this meathead can get past the second episode. And with the last pick of the draft, Nate takes Priscilla, who is going to get at least one blurcle an episode now that she can legally drink. Not that being underage prevented her from being blurcled in any way. There's a great chance Priscilla is coming back next season, regardless of how she finishes during Exes. We predict she could soon become a franchise player.

Undrafted
San Diego Nate would have been an intriguing pick. He has some bonus point potential but as the reigning newbie, he's likely to be tossed very soon. Heather is, well, she's headed for a quick exit. Barring a miracle, neither Nate nor Heather will be around to be picked up by the first team that loses all of their drafted players.

I'm still in disbelief that Jenn and Kenny aren't on this Challenge. They should be here. Although maybe we're all tired of Kenny. And Laurel must be pissed that she's never actually hooked up with anyone enough to be considered an Ex. I bet with her first off-season, she'll return stronger than ever. Imagine if she was here instead of Diem? Next Challenge we'd also really like Theresa and Landon back. Thanks in advance Bunim/Murray!

Sean Duffy and the Prez!

Guess who I spotted during tonight's State of the Union Address? Sean Duffy of Real World/Challenge fame! You may remember him as the lumberjack guy on Real World Boston. He then married Rachel from Real World San Francisco, whom he met on one of the challenges. He now has 6 kids with her and is a Republican congressman for Wisconsin. This is a pic of Obama's entrance and it did look like he dissed Sean as he was shaking hands. Snap! It is nice to see that some Challenge alumni actually make something of themselves rather than become Career Challengers.

Team Feisty Bitches

As I reflect on my draft picks this season, I realize that I have a team of feisty bitches. While that wasn't necessarily my drafting strategy, I'm optimistic that it will work out in my favor.

In the past I have tried to pick the stronger competitors, but this time around I was aiming for drama points over the players that I thought would compete well. However, I did aim to pick drama-prone players with partners who were strong competitors. While I risk that my players will (once again) be eliminated from the game early on, I'm hoping to have chosen players that will stick around for at least most of the game and who will incur lots of drama points along the way.

The Feisty Bitch Run-Down:

1) Diem: While she's the least feisty of the crew, she can certainly hold her own. She's proven herself a strong competitor in the past, and as CT's partner, I think she'll be around for most of the game.

2) Ty: Let's face it, Ty is a mess in terms of his game. He hasn't shown much endurance in the past, and he is constantly exploding. I'm hoping that his perpetual bitchy explosions will earn me some points, while I'm also hoping that his kick-ass partner will be able to keep the team in the game for a while.

3)Naomi: Okay, I admit that this pick was really because I just love Naomi and Leroy. They were both quite endearing during their Real World season. While I'm a little skeptical of Naomi's athletic prowess, I'm hoping that Leroy will help keep the team alive. Plus, the clips show Naomi expressing bitchy jealousy if Leroy were to hook up with anyone else. Does that mean that the two of them are still hooking up? I hope so!

4)Aneesa: During one of the previews, we saw a clip of someone being taken out in an ambulance. It kind of looked like Aneesa to me, and so I'm hoping for some hospital points with this pick. And although being taken out on a stretcher doesn't bode well for game longevity, I'm hoping that she sticks around for a while thanks to Rachel's amazing athleticism.

Paula is the teammate who got away. I would love to have her on my team. While I was tempted to draft DummyBear instead, he just annoys the crap out of me, and I wasn't sure if he'd rack up any points other than if he and Paula were to win the final. I was also tempted to pick Jasmin, but I think her winning streak last season was a fluke.

All in all, I think I have a solid team and can't wait for the season to start. Go Team Feisty Bitches!

Team Troubletones

After a few seasons of drafting with my head, I went all heart this time. Cara Maria returns to her rightful position as my team captain and last time this happened -- during Cutthroat -- it was my best fantasy season yet. This time, paired up again with her feces throwing ex Abram, I see nothing but crushing victory for my side. As I pointed out in my all time scoring post, Cara Maria is a top five player by average and since there's no Laurel, Jenn, Tyler, or Luke around, she's the first logical pick, going by stats. So while my heart was 1000% into this selection, the numbers back me up. Nobody's messing with Abram this season, not with CT around to play villain, and I can't see Abram/CM going anywhere but toward the finals. I just hope they make up and do some more crazy stuff. It's good to have you back CM, I've missed you.

As for Emily from DC, I predicted a breakout season for her soon and this is gonna be it. She's Laurel-lite, but without the baggage of everyone hating her. Emily is tall, athletic, socially adept, and very competitive. There's no way she's not going to make out with someone (and like CM, she'll go both ways) and the only landmine I can see for her future is her partner, Ty. I've had Ty before and he's useless and his weak showings in the Challenges have left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, but I'm hoping that he'll not drag Emily down too much. If nothing else, I'll have to two hottest contestants around with my top selections. If HT's old "pick the best looking players" strategy still works, I'm headed for a championship as Emily is the perfect Pippen to Cara Maria's Jordan -- in the attractive department, if not athletically.

For some reason, Jasmine dropped like a stone, despite putting up one of the greatest rookie years of all time last season. Sure most of it was fueled by some beginner's luck but she proved that she was capable of all kinds of shenanigans. Indeed, the trailer gives her at least two instances of bonus points and even if she doesn't make it far like last season, she's capable of being an impact player in a short time. Now that I think about it, we should award some points for getting tossed off the show, and if there was one person is likely to get thrown off this season, it's Jasmine! I'm excited to tally how many inanimate objects she breaks this season. She like really hates glass and other shiny things.

With my last pick, I solidified my all female team by going with Sarah. I know, I know, she's been pathetic since Ruins 2. I don't know what happened to her actually. Once upon a time she was a rising star but ever since she kissed Vinny it's been all downhill. Unfortunately, she's Ninny's partner again and I have no hopes that she'll go far. I only picked Sarah because I assume she'll hang on a few episodes beyond the absolute newbies and maybe she'll be good for one cry. Remember back when Sarah was likeable and actually cool? Man, that seems like so long ago. The bad blonde hair dye job is not working either, not at all.

I feel pretty good about my team this season, especially looking over everyone else's rosters. I don't think I have the best lineup, but I am assured of at least a good finish. What am I saying? This is finally my year to win! Last year I drafted too many males and this time I'm going to win with an Amazon quartet that is destined to rack up the points. Remember, "The Troubletones are 3F: fierce, femme, phenomenal!" And in three months, they'll be winners too.

Team Lady Mary

If you haven't discovered the amazing Downton Abbey yet, go watch it. Go. Now. I'll wait. Don't worry, I won't spoil it for you, but I've named my team after Downton's own Lady Mary. She will cut a bitch with one look, get her slut on, cover up her tracks, and still have us root for her. And so I name my team in her honor. I hope they live up to it.

My first pick went to the freckled pasty one, Wes. This is the first time in our league where I've gotten the last place in the draft, and a lot of the good ones were already taken. With this new game organized by these couple teams of two, you have to wonder how alliances and team strengths will play out here. In general, I think the women have a higher point potential this season, because they can score highly on the emotional crying, hookup, fighting points, but also get carried through the challenges by a strong male partner. Sizing up the couples, or rather, ex-couples, I thought Wes-Mandy was a potentially strong team. Wes is still cunning and manipulative. And Mandy is a decent competitor with high endurance. I would have picked Mandy but she appears to have a serious boyfriend back home, so I think her hookup point potential is low this season unlike past seasons. Wes is single though, so I hope some hookups and also fighting points are in his future. And hey, maybe he can win Mandy back.

Since I had back-to-back picks, it didn't really matter who I picked first, but my second pick went to Camila. I think Johnny-Camila will be a very strong team, as I think Johnny will really manipulate his way to the top, but he might be low on bonus points. So I picked his crazy partner Camila who can hopefully score high on drama, and get carried through the challenges by Johnny. There also seems to be high sexual tension between these two, so I'm hoping for some hookup points between them.

My last two back-to-back picks went to the team of Dustin-Heather. It was definitely a risk to pick a couple team since I will lose 2 players if they lose the challenge, but I'm banking on some hookup points here to make up for an early exit. This is the only "ex" couple that is actually a current couple. I hope they hook up every episode and then I'll also get the bonus point for owning two team members that hookup with each other. As for the challenges, Dustin has been described as "competitive," so I hope that translates into some wins. And if you didn't know, Dustin's secret that came out on the Real World was that he did gay porn. I'm sorry, but I think that would be a deal breaker for me, but I guess not for Heather. Good luck to you honey. I hope you channel some Lady Mary up in here.

Team In It To Win It

For my team name, I'm going to take a page out of the short lived yet lively run of GOP candidate Herman Cain, and use catchy jingle type rhymes. So I'm "In it to Win it!" this season. Some may have predicted, like Jon, that I would take Wes with the first pick. I avoided Wes this time consciously. I also took a page out of last year's champ Yasmine's book and decided to pick against my feelings and skip the great red head. I also just get this vibe that he's not going to do as well this year, and his shtick is starting to grow old on me.

My strategy going in was to try to pick for longevity. I feel like to win the season, you need to have at least half your team or more make it to the finals. Also, I've learned that the females are the superior point earners in this game, and all things being equal, one should pick a lady. I'll let other people "data-mine" into exactly why if they want. I'll just take the ladies at face value.

I did single out two scenes in the preview that I thought could be likely final challenge events, either the beach scene or the ice scene. TJ stated that there is money for 3 teams, which could imply 4 teams in the final. Therefore, I banked on the beach scene with couples dressed up in mock wedding outfits as a final challenge candidate. If so, then the final teams are Paula/Dunbar, Diem/CT, Camila/Johnny, Robin/Mark. That was how I made my first 3 picks. I was thinking, well none of them are in their team outfits, so this must be the final! Plus these 4 appear to be fairly strong teams.

But now, I'm not certain, and in fact, after watching the "Director's Cut" version of preview, I think I'm wrong. I believe TJ says "Welcome to the final challenge" and its not beach scene at all, its the ice and sled dog scene. If so, then there is unambigous evidence in the preview that reveals one of the final couple teams fairly conclusively. That couple did not appear to be on anyone immediate radar for the first round...If you prefer suprises, I'd suggest you don't look too closely.

But then again, what do I know. I would to preface to everyone that I've been perpetual runner up in this game. I do take satisfaction that I've constantly and consistently beat Jon however. It's the little victories that keep me going. Heh. But anyways I do like this image though, b/c it reveals a bit of a mystery of who the finalists maybe, without giving it all away! I'm wondering, who is a small tiny sized girl that is fair skinned...

Hmmm...hmmm in deed!

I hope this will be a good season for everyone, and I love the format. I'm In it, to Win it!

Draft Reflections

After my crushing last place finish last season, I went into this draft with trepidation. I had no idea who I wanted on my team, even after watching the pre-show, so I was glad to be in the middle of the draft order. My strategy became to pick the teammate of players that were already chosen. Looking back, this was probably not a good strategy to employ for my first pick. I probably should have went with Johnny. We'll have to wait and see how the season unfolds...

Rules and Scoring: Battle of the Exes

Draft
  • Six team owners will each select four players each, in a snake style draft.
  • If any contestant shows up midway through the game, they are given to the team that loses all of their players first. Retroactive points do not count however, only once they appear on the team do their scores start tabulating.
  • There will be two players left over and they will be available for selection by the team(s) that get all their players eliminated first. So if all your players are out by WK5, you get to select one of the originally undrafted players for the remainder of the season.
Scoring and Points
The rules are almost exactly the same as last year, save adding blurcle and reading the clue points. As we don't know the exact rules Battle of the Exes will be using, we might tweak some things after the first episode.

Competition Points (awarded per episode)
+1 point for each week your person stays on the show
+1 point for winning the weekly Challenge (each individual on the winning team gets this)
+1 point for being sent into the Elimination
+1 point for winning the Elimination

Bonus Points (awarded per episode)
+2 point for hooking up (kissing on the lips, making out, groaning sounds under covers, etc.)
+1 bonus point if you own both contestants who hooked up
+2 points for getting into a physical fight
+1 point for physically fighting with their Ex
+2 points for "crazy (ass tirade)"
+2 points for going to the hospital
+2 points for throwing up
+2 points for crying
+1 points for having a body part blurcled (only awarded once per episode)
+1 point for reading the clue

Finals Points
+5 for making the finals
+7 for being the winner

Any subjective calls will be cleared up by arguing and then voting. We can also reference some of the points laid out last year to clarify things. Although maybe it would be nice to wipe the slate clean and start from "What qualifies as a crazy ass tirade in the Jungle?" Below were the details laid out last year for some of the subjective rules:
  • It has to be shown or be provable on camera, then from there we can vote/argue about if something constituted a hook up.
  • No "extras" or "behind-the-scenes" specials or aftershows or "web clips" don't count.
  • You are awarded one bonus point for each instance. If Veronica hooks up with Cyrus and MJ during the episode, that's +2. However, if she hooks up with Cyrus over and over that episode, that's just +1. If they hook up again next episode though, then they can get more points.
  • Hook ups aren't just kissing, or a congratulatory peck. There should be some level of lust and passion, some measure of potential hookupability. Example, Laurel and Pete's Truth or Dare kiss in Meet the Meat counts as a hook up.
  • A three way kiss only awards +2 to each participant (not +4 each).
  • Examples of a crazy ass tirade was Eve going bananas and knocking things around the house after getting sent in against Kelly Anne, or Katie going nuts after the plunger incident in her bed.
  • Physical fights, do they include wrestling? I say yes, like if two people engage in an attempt to do physical harm, even if it's not actually punching/kicking, that's a point.
Arbitration Details
Majority wins the vote-offs (which must be done before the next episode). If there are five owners voting, that should be easy. However, if two separate owners have to abstain because it's their contestants involved, then it's four voters. Ideally a 3-1 majority would take it but if there is a tie, then no points are rewarded. Try to be objective if you can, when voting. And we can cite previous precedent or whatever in our arguments. No bribing though!

All Time Scoring

Here's a little interesting rundown I did of the past four seasons of The Challenge. The Top 10 points earners of all time are:
  1. Laurel (75)
  2. Jenn (69)
  3. Cara Maria (54)
  4. Paula (52)
  5. Mandi (52)
  6. Kenny (50)
  7. Sarah (47)
  8. Johnny (46)
  9. Tyler (45)
  10. Evelyn (45)
Now how about by average per appearance (must have been in more than one show)?
  1. Laurel (25)
  2. Jenn (23)
  3. Tyler (22.5)
  4. Luke (18.5)
  5. Cara Maria (18)
  6. Paula (17.33)
  7. Mandi (17.33)
  8. Kenny (16.67)
  9. Johnny (15.3)
  10. Evelyn (15)
Keep in mind that our scoring has shifted a bit over the years, with a lot more points being given up by the last Challenge versus Ruins 2, our very first Challenge.

Only one contestant has been in all four Challenges, Sarah, and she's racked up only 11.75 points per outing, boosted huge by her 24 points from Cutthroat. Theresa was in heavy contention for a top spot after two nice showings but her early exit last season tanked her chances. The absolute worst person to pick? Vinny! Who has 9 points total in two shows. Will this change your draft strategy? Will everyone now be Team Laurel?!

Victory Lap

So I guess I'm a repeat champion of our fantasy challenge. Woo hoo! I don't know how I got so lucky to pick the winners lately, but I think what I learned was not to get personal. I picked people that weren't necessarily my favorites (ahem, Wes). But hey, they performed in all sense of the word -- athletically, sluttily, and violently. And that's all I can ask for from an ideal Challenge member.

The new season, Battle of the Exes, is about to start and I could not be more excited. It's a great concept, because of the hookup potential, which I will be rooting for. I mean, how many of you have or have wanted to hook up with an ex? It's like a drug, unless it ended in flames of course. The draft is almost upon us, and I have to say, it's probably my favorite part of this whole thing. Nothing brings me more excitement and anxiety at the same time. Three-peat!
